PURPOSE:

To supervise Farm Shop personnel and assign daily activities. Verify and establish performance standards and job quality with documentation. Lead productivity and safety initiatives and ensure all are fulfilled.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Supervise all department employees to ensure all activity and records are accurate, timely and meet division quality standards. Dispatch and assign shop and field technicians for PM & R&M activities. Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment and assist technicians with similar activities. Generate and close Work Orders as required. Ensure all material and labor charges are captured. Ensure all work is inspected for quality and completeness prior to Work Order closure. Influence operation towards least cost solution. Co-lead and create a safe, productive, amicable work environment. Other duties as assigned by the Shop Manager. Overtime as required and travel overnight as needed. Lead by example the Division’s Mission, Strategy and Values. Responsible for 5S Organization of all work areas.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Continuous use of both hands; including grasping, pulling and pushing. Sight, hearing, lifting, standing, climbing stairways, walking and balancing both feet on even and uneven surfaces, bending, twisting, crawling, stooping, kneeling, reaching forward, reaching overhead, reaching below shoulder, wrist turning, neck turning. Must be able to lift and carry 75 lbs. frequently.

Requirements

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Prefer three years of mechanical experience and working knowledge of various agricultural equipment: tractors, implements, booster pumps, vehicles and other various types. Prefer two years management experience. Must be Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) and an effective communicator in both languages. Must possess, or have the ability to gain sufficient computer skills for generating documents such as Work Orders, Purchase Orders, Inspections, and digital timekeeping. Excel, and Microsoft Word skills a plus. Must possess current California driver’s license and clean DMV driving record. Must pass a drug/ alcohol screen and physical, functional capacity evaluation.
