Grimmway Farms Honored with County and City Proclamations

BAKERSFIELD, CA, June 10, 2019—During last week’s city council meeting, Bakersfield Mayor Karen Goh presented a city proclamation to Grimmway Farms co-owner Kari Grimm Anderson and sons Brett and David Grimm declaring June 5, 2019 as “Grimmway Farms Day in Bakersfield” to honor the company’s 50th anniversary. The world’s largest producer of carrots and the nation’s largest producer of organic vegetables, Grimmway established its headquarters in Kern County in 1981 after it was incorporated by brothers Rod and Bob Grimm in 1969.

“Your dedicated efforts to advance and improve our economy have revolutionized the carrot industry, supported families, and preserved natural resources for future generations,” said Karen Goh, Mayor of the City of Bakersfield. “Thank you for your generosity and investment in our community. It is an honor for the City of Bakersfield to celebrate this milestone with Grimmway Farms, a true jewel in our community!”

Mayor Goh’s presentation follows a similar show of support from the Kern County Board of Supervisors. Chairman of the Board David Couch presented Grimmway Farms co-owners Barbara Grimm Marshall, Kari Grimm Anderson as well as Brandon Grimm, Brett Grimm and Catie Grimm Gardiner with a county proclamation declaring April 30, 2019 as “Grimmway Farms Day in Kern County” to recognize the company’s milestone in business.

“Grimmway has been a tremendous community partner throughout the years, and as one of the largest employers in Kern County, you have made an immense difference in our community,” said David Couch, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors in Kern County. “We appreciate your investment in Kern County and wish you well moving forward. Congratulations on reaching this milestone and best wishes for another fifty years.”

Recognition from the county and city comes in the midst of Grimmway’s year-long “Family Owned for 50 Years and Growing” celebration honoring the employees, supplier partners, customers and communities that have been integral to the company’s success.

“Our families are truly honored to have the support of the community. Without that support, and more importantly the support of our employees, this day would not be possible,” said Kari Grimm Anderson following the City of Bakersfield’s presentation. “50 years ago Bob and Rod started Grimmway Farms and they would truly be amazed at how the company has grown. They started out with a dream, worked hard and took risks in Bakersfield. Our carrots, as well as many other agricultural items, show that Bakersfield is an abundant agricultural area and provides nutritional food for the nation and many countries in the world. Bakersfield has been so good to us. It has been a wonderful place to grow our business and raise our families. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for this amazing adventure, opportunity and honor.”
