Where We Grow
Product of USA - California Grown. We select a variety of regions in California to ensure the ideal growing conditions for our crops throughout the year.
Coachella
The Coachella Valley is a region located in Central Riverside County, Southeast California, Northwest of the Salton Sea. The Coachella Valley includes the cities of Coachella and Indio, and the growing resort communities of Palm Springs and Palm Desert. Though our farming schedule fluctuates as we keep up with Mother Nature, we farm this region in the winter where the warm weather and sun provide a perfect climate.
When: about December – March or April
Cuyama
The Cuyama Valley is a 300 square mile lush agricultural area near Santa Barbara, CA. It is surrounded by mountains and sits at the foothills of the Sierra Madre mountains, which backs up to Los Padres National Forest. Cuyama is home to not only acres and acres of orchards and ranches, but also was a well known area for oil production, though the principal industry is now agriculture. Though Cuyama does have a cold winter, the warm summer temperatures and sandy soil make it an ideal place for us to grow in warmer months.
When: about mid-May – September or October
Kern County
Formed in 1893, Kern County, California includes the South end of the San Joaquin Valley and is surrounded by the Tehachapi Mountains to the South, the Southern part of the Sierra Nevada to the East and Coastal Ranges to the West. Irrigated agriculture since the 1880's includes cotton, potatoes, grains, nuts, grapes, citrus, apples, plums, carrots, tomatoes and peppers. We utilize this land for most of the year as the weather and seasons in Kern County allow us to plant a variety of fruits and vegetables. For example, in the summer it's too warm here to grow some items, like leafy lettuces, so we move those items up to Tehachapi and Cuyama, and focus on vegetables like onions, potatoes and carrots that can take the heat.
When: about March – December
Tehachapi
With an elevation of 4,400 feet, the Tehachapi Mountains are known as a beautiful oasis with four true seasons in an otherwise dry climate. Tehachapi is near Edwards Air Force base and is located between the San Joaquin Valley and Mojave Desert. Our outside growing time here is limited to the summer, though we grow tomatoes here year round in our state of the art greenhouse. During the summer, we farm 2,000 acres of vegetables that thrive in the cooler mountain temperatures, like chard, shown in the image above.
